People's trial of putin: testimony for The Hague

In the city of The Hague, in the Netherlands, in February 2023, a people's court was held, which symbolically tried the president of russia, vladimir putin, for crimes of aggression due to his invasion of Ukraine. The process was informal, but real judges, prosecutors and witnesses took part in it.

The trial was initiated by the human rights group Cinema for Peace, the Ukrainian Center for Civil Liberties and Ben Ferentz, a 102-year-old lawyer who was the last prosecutor in the Nuremberg trials of top Nazi leaders after World War II.

Among the witnesses at the People's Tribunal were three Ukrainians, whose stories about their experiences during the war were included in the archive of the Museum of Civilian Voices of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Their stories were collected in a separate collection.
