"Stronger than death": a collection of stories about women who lost their husbands because of the war

It's always painful to lose a close person. But during war an already tragic event receives additional bitter details. How does it feel to bury your loved one during a bombardment? Or to try and pull him out of the rubble, hoping that he's still alive?

The Museum of Civilian Voices of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation presents its new collection of stories about a very sensitive topic: about women who buried their husbands. About widows. The collection has been prepared for June 23rd - International Widows' Day, dedicated to raising awareness of the situation of widows and their children.

Statistically, in Ukraine, one third of women above the age of 40 had the cruel status of "widow". Had it earlier, that is. Because of russia's military aggression, every month the numbers increase, and increasingly more and more young and even very young women are becoming widows.

We sincerely thank each of the women who entrusted us with their story, for their openness and sincerity. And for telling the world about your loss and your memory.
