Creative works are being accepted for the essay contest "1000 Days of War. My Way" by the Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, which is open to young people and teachers. An expert jury consisting of Ukrainian professionals in creative fields was invited to evaluate the essays. Recently, Oleksiy Sukhanov, a well-known actor and presenter, ambassador of the Museum of Civilian Voices, joined the jury.

"For me, this is an opportunity to touch the feelings and thoughts of our youth, to feel the future of our Ukraine through their vision, to look into it and imagine what it should be like. After all, this extremely terrible lesson of our history and everyone's pain must play a major role in breaking the cycle that Ukraine has been entering again and again for 33 years of its independence!" – said Oleksiy.

Students of the 9-11th grades, first- and second-year students of colleges and vocational education institutions, teachers of secondary schools, colleges and vocational education institutions from all regions of Ukraine are invited to participate in the competition.

You can submit your essay until October 20, 2024 only through the official registration form on the website of the Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation

Please read the terms and conditions of the Contest carefully

The winners of the Essay Contest will be announced on December 20, 2024. They will receive diplomas and gifts: gadgets and useful things.

According to Oleksiy Sukhanov, what he finds most fascinating and moving in the participants‘ essays is the sincerity and depth of the authors’ feelings

"And the most important thing is not just the awareness of their pain and losses due to the great war, but the need to imprint this in the memory of their country in order to finally work out the historical mistake and not to turn down that "treacherous path" again", – the host says.

The most important tasks of the Essay Contest for young people, according to Oleksiy, are to activate the key abilities of a free person: to think freely, analyse critically, and feel sincerely.

The best essays will become part of the Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, the world's largest collection of stories about the war in Ukraine, which already contains 120,000 first-hand accounts.

The competition is organised by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation with the support of the State Scientific Institution Institute for Modernisation of Education and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
