An exhibition VOICES was held in Kyiv to open the multimedia offline space of the Voices of the Peaceful Museum of Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Over 5,000 people visited the exhibition, which was held at the Museum of History of the City of Kyiv, in three months. Among them were representatives of international media and organisations, Ukrainian journalists and cultural figures, Kyiv residents and guests of the capital. The first season is now finished.
The Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation is the world's largest collection of stories about the war in Ukraine, with more than 110,000 first-hand accounts. The multidimensional exhibition was created to reveal the depth and power of living human stories.
"This is a beautiful exhibition. It conveys the mood. Everything is shown as it was, because not everyone was at the epicentre of the events and saw the whole picture with their own eyes. Transferring these events to a different plane is an important work done by the exhibition creators," shared his impressions Evgeniy Maloletka, photojournalist, co-author of the Oscar-winning film 20 Days in Mariupol.
"The exhibition is impressive. It made my heart clench. It is important that such exhibitions take place, because this is something that cannot be seen on the Internet or on television. It evokes the emotions that make a person human," said Dmytro Gordon, a well-known Ukrainian journalist and TV presenter.
"We could not hold back our tears. There are many emotions - despair, regret, injustice, rage... This exhibition should be shown in all European capitals, to all foreigners, officials, those who are already 'tired' and living in a different reality. It is extremely important! This is our history, which cannot be rewritten!" said Pavlo Zibrov, singer, People's Artist of Ukraine.
The VOICES exhibition also featured a series of public interviews as part of the Museum of Civilian Voices series of cultural events aimed at preserving the memory of the war. Speakers and participants discussed the importance of remembering and telling the world the truth about what Ukraine is going through. Interviews and news about the exhibition are available hier.
The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine expressed its gratitude to the Museum of Civilian Voices by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for its significant contribution to the preservation of Ukraine's national memory through the collection, storage and dissemination of testimonies of Ukrainians about the war, in particular through the VOICES exhibition, and recommended the exhibition for exhibition in Europe and the United States.
