We will talk about:
the role of cultural and, in particular, museum institutions in the process of memorialisation;
the role of all stakeholders of the memory environment in creating a culture of remembrance;
the role of art as one of the tools of memorialisation.
Maksym Ostapenko is a specialist in historical and cultural monument protection, museology, archaeology, and restoration work. He became the head of the National Preserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" in April 2023. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he has been in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
From 2007 to 2022, he headed the Khortytsia National Reserve. He is the author of more than 30 scientific works on the history of Khortytsia Island and the Lower Dnipro region, co-author of the study and restoration of unique underwater heritage sites.
