Svitlana still cannot forget the first russian shelling of Mariupol in 2015. A shell hit her house and the blast wave smashed the windows. It seemed like it couldn’t get any worse, but after February 24, 2022, life in Mariupol turned into a living hell: lack of light, connection, gas and heating, shelling with phosphorus shells, tanks in the yard, incessant fires and many dead – all this the elderly woman had to witness with her own eyes every day. To escape the horrors of war, Svitlana’s family has overcome a difficult journey. Now the family has settled in Poltava.
