Mark's family lived in Torez. One day in 2021, representatives of the "DNR" special services broke into their house. Mark's parents were accused of spying for Ukraine and taken prisoner. Mark and his brother lived alone for a month, and then his mother's friend took them into care. Mark's parents have been held captive for a year and a half. His mother was interrogated and threatened to take the children away. At the beginning of the full-scale war, the parents were still in the detention centre, and the children, together with their mother's friend, left Torez for russia. When their mother was freed, the boys could not get to Ukraine for two months. But later, they got to their native land through Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, and the family was reunited.
