Sofiia's sister was shot in the Kyiv region. Her husband was killed. The woman waited another 5 days for help. Her 15-year-old daughter covered the wound with tape and saved her mother's life.

Sofiia is a lecturer at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She is very worried about her students, especially when an air raid warning is sounded in Kyiv and when the enemy is shelling the capital. Analysing information from international media, the woman understood that a full-scale invasion could happen, but the realization came only when on the morning of February 24, 2022, she heard explosions in the centre of Kyiv.

The woman is proud of her students, Sofiia believes that Ukrainian youth are the light and future of Ukraine, who consciously choose to stay in the country and not move abroad because of the war.
