In Sartana, I am the oldest resident and the only survivor of World War II. I live with my daughter Liudmyla. We are both blind.
Our village was seriously damaged by shelling in August 2015. It was a miracle that house was undamaged. Shells hit houses on the next street. We thought that our veranda would get off the ground with the roof.
This is the third war I have witnessed. I witnessed the civil war when I was a child,. I got married in 1939. Then I joined the fighting line. I was wounded in the Battle of Melitopol. Luckily, I survived and returned home. I had fragments in my legs II as a memento of World War. Doctors couldn't pull them out. A few years ago, I become a widower and lost my sight. I don't go out much.
Now things got better. But I still have a lot of work and repairing to do.
