In April 2022, russian soldiers captured Izium, the city where Yevhen’s family lived. For several months, there were fights, shelling almost every day. Local people mostly hid in basements. In the summer, the russian military began to take children to russia. Parents were promised that it was for the recovery and not for the long time. Yevhen's parents had no choice but to send their sons as far away from the shelling as possible. At that time, fifty children were taken to the Krasnodar Krai. Among them are Yevhen and his younger brother.
The term of stay in the camp was constantly increasing, then the parents understood: the children were simply stolen. AFU, meanwhile, liberated Izium. The family turned to the SOS Children's Villages organization for help. The boys were returned home.
Yevhen told his story during the rest at the Blogger Camp shift. It was organized by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation in cooperation with the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
