During the occupation, Mariia Bazylchuk saved the residents of the mini-zoo on the territory of the church in the village of Vorzel. The menagerie worked for many years for free. Families with children visited it. Mariia, as a parishioner of the church, took care of animals and birds for a long time. When russians entered the territory of the village, the woman did not leave her work, although there were already snipers on the street who killed Mariia’s neighbor.
Despite the danger, the woman rode her bicycle to the menagerie every day to feed the animals. A few weeks before the liberation, the russians stole and ate a sheep from the zoo. Brave Mariia managed to save other animals.
