Yuriy has worked as an ambulance driver for 30 years. And this experience became invaluable in March 2022, when his home village of Markhalivka was hit by Russian shells. By this time, Yuriy had already organized a medical aid station at his home, moved the ambulances to his yard, and conducted several training sessions with local medics.
So when the tragedy struck, his team did everything in a coordinated manner: they dug people out of the rubble, provided first aid, and stabilized them. All this was done at home.
During his second arrival, Yuriy and the ambulance driver rescued three wounded. All three survived thanks to his timely help. Later, one of the survivors called and thanked Yuriy for saving him.
