Yehor Horodnychyi often recollects his life before the war in his native village of Novopetrykivka in the Donetsk Oblast. How he used to go fishing, how his family used to gather for holidays, his friends, and fun school life... All of that was taken away by the war. The shelling was getting more and more intense. Yehor saw the neighboring village burning; he also saw what was left of a man who tried to get out of a burning car but failed... They were leaving Novopetrykivka under fire. On the road, the gas tank fell off. This is how they got away...
“I saw a car that had burned down... Many corpses lying near the supermarket...”
