The story of Yakiv, a 20th-century historian and researcher, begins long before his life was changed by war. Having dedicated years to studying the history of totalitarian regimes, Yakiv had already sensed a certain tension in the air since the illegal annexation of Crimea. He understood that such a turn of events could have far-reaching consequences.
Yakiv prepared for the war in his own way – he stocked up on candles and canned goods. When the full-scale russian invasion began on February 24, 2022, Yakiv realized that his worst fears had been confirmed.
Despite pessimistic sentiments, Yakiv believes in Ukraine's victory. He understands that our victory may not come as quickly or in the form some imagine. But for him it is important that Ukraine survives, becomes a strong and independent state, capable of influencing world processes.
