Famous TV presenter Oleksiy Sukhanov tells The Museum of Civilian Voices about Sofiia's story. A fragment from a cluster shell passed more than 11 cm through her brain from the frontal area to the back of her head.
When cluster bombs exploded on 4 April and caught Nina and her 9-year-old daughter Sofiia in the street in the middle of a residential area in Mykolaiv, her mother did not hesitate to cover the girl with her body.
For two days, the girl stayed in a coma in Mykolaiv. All the time, Nina prayed to God for one thing - that her daughter would survive and not lose her memories of her. And she could not hold back her tears when Sofiia came to and screamed: "Mummy!"
