My eight-year-old son Mykola measures his blood sugar five times a day. He has diabetes, you know. This is the only way to calculate the correct dose of insulin to inject. If he missed the measurement, his life might be at risk.
To do the measurement, he needs test strips. They are inserted into blood glucose meters that monitors blood sugar level. Earlier, patients received insulin and test strips from the state, but state programs were stopped in the uncontrolled territories.
Delivering has been blocked, even in pharmacies, so test strips have become scarce, and prices for them have increased significantly. They cost about UAH 700, and I need at least three packages a month for my son.
