Maryna Khrystiuk was at home when she saw military aircraft from her window. That was the first day of the war for her family and her native Vorzel. During the month of occupation, the woman mostly stayed at home. She watched the occupiers' armoured vehicles firing at neighbouring towns.

Maryna Khrystiuk was twice a deputy of the Vorzel village council. At the time of the interview, she was an individual entrepreneur. Despite the war and what she went through, she did not give up her dream of reviving the legendary Vorzel House of Composers' Creativity in the village, which inspired musicians of several generations. After all, it was here that the hits “Two Colours”,“The Song of the Towel” (“My Mother, You Didn't Sleep All Night”), “My Kyiv”, “Oh, Wild Geese Went”, and the operas “Taras Shevchenko” and “Yaroslav the Wise” were written. Maryna says that the project to restore the facility has been developed long ago, but its implementation requires considerable effort.
