Everyone who lives in the"grey area" in Donbass has their own history of survival in the war. I had to pick up my parents from Cherkasy Oblast six months ago. They need constant care. I'm their only daughter, and they can't take care of themselves any more. My father and mother have bad joints. They need surgery, but they can't afford it.
Our village of Chermalyk is located on the line of contact , on the bank of The Kalmius. The uncontrolled area is right on the other side. The noise that sometimes comes from that place is terrible. We don't sleep at night. Parents constantly complain about blood pressure rising. If they urgently need medicines, we can't buy them. Two pharmacies in the village do not work.
Residents of our village and surrounding villages have no jobs now. We can't cultivate the fields – they are mined. Five houses in the village were destroyed and 80 houses were damaged.
