Surviving Despite Atrocities: Stories of Torture Victims
In February 2023, a symbolic court in The Hague, known as the People's Tribunal, brought to light the stories of brutal war crimes committed by the russian army and leaders during the war in Ukraine. Heroes from the Museum of Civilian Voices by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation were among the witnesses who testified in the trial.
The testimonies of torture victims reveal the full horror of enemy crimes: abuse, beatings, and humiliation. Despite the inhuman suffering, these individuals stood their ground and maintained their dignity.
